 note = {Since the opening of the Hexi Corridor, the international system of East Eurasia has formed, persisted and changed as a result of the competition for supremacy over Inner Mongolia and the Western Regions between Han Dynasty and Xiongnu. According the relationship between Han and Xiongnu, there are four periods: the rivalry for supremacy, the peace due to Xiongnu's submission to Han, the rivalry after Xiongnu's resistance and the decisive defeat of Xiongnu by Han, and Han's unipolar system.
