 note = {Genetic background and microenvironmental factors are highly responsible for the onset of autoimmune diseases. However, the effector lymphocytes, which attack directly the living tissues, are also an important factor to think about the mechanisms involved in the onset of diseases. How these effector lymphocytes increase in the number in patients with autoimmune diseases, and what kinds of properties in these cells lead to the onset of diseases? To date, extrathymic T cells and CD5^+B cells are focused attention as such the effector cells. Herein, these cells will be dealed as a central subject to be introduced, and the mechanisms involved in the onset of diseases will be discussed.},
