 note = {On the occasion of the Great Hanshin Earthquake, January 21 through February 28, 1995, we were in medical relief activities at Nishi-Nada Elementary School, Kobe. The Place, full of old houses and inhabited by many aged people, has totally been destroyed. Examinees totaled 2,131, 66% internally treated and 34% surgically treated. At first, about 120 were examined a day and 20 to 30 a day the end of February. 16 transferred to be hospitalized. From there activities we learned a valuable lesson on how medical men and women should be, medical institutions' countermeasures against natural calamities, medical information systems, citizens' protection from and education on calamities and also how medical relief for remote places should be.},
