Fifty-three of the patients were over 70 years old and had many complications. Early gastric cancer lesions represented 73 (58.4 percent) of all 121 resected lesions. One hundred and thirteen patients underwent surgical resection of primary cancer ; in 108 cases (95.6 percent), the operations were potentially curative. The other 5 of these patients underwent palliative resections. Aggresive medical examinations and operations were undertaken not only in younger patients but also in older ones. In the future, as the proportion of older patients with more complications increases in Sado Island, clinicians must recognize that a thorough examination is necessary for early diagnosis, and that minimally invasive surgery is optimum for treating gastric cancer in elderly patients.}, pages = {20--28}, title = {佐渡総合病院における最近(過去2年間)の胃癌手術症例の検討}, volume = {112}, year = {1998} }
