 note = {We reported two years experience of the results of the medical support for the first professional soccer team in Niigata prefecture. Totally 77 sports injuries were occurred in the season of 1996. 74 of the 77 injuries (96.1 %) were related to orthopaedic surgery. Injuries include the upper extremity and the body trunk occupied the 23 % of the orthopaedic injuries. On the other hand, injuries of the lower extremity was seen in 77 % of the cases and major lesion was ankle joint and knee joint in this order. In the professional athletes, medical demand is far stronger than that of amateur. Moreover, the front office also requrires early recovery and quick return of the athletes. Thus, not only high quality of the medical treatment but also well sophisticated system of the medical support will be need in the near future.},
