 note = {The current condition and problems of the pediatic medicine at Niigata University Medical Hospital are discussed. As a general trend, the number of inpatients per day in the pediatric ward is decreasing since 1988. The number of new outpatients has also decreased since 1983. One of the major causes is thought to be the decrease of patients with common diseases. The number of docters, nurses and co-medical stuffs is not enough to maintain the highly-advanced pediatric medicine that is expected by other medical care facilities and patients' families.},
