VT induces apoptosis in several kinds of tissues and cell lines such as pediatric tubular cells which are considered to be one of the target tissues for HUS. TNF-α, which is induced by VT or EHEC lipopolysaccharide, stimulates the VT-induced apoptosis. ln this study, we have demonstrated that VT1 caused caspase-3 activation in THP-1 cells, and that azithromycin (AZM)significantly inhibited TNF-α induction by VT1 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells. These data provide a useful in vitro model to investigate the mechanism of VT-induced apoptosis through caspase-3, and the suggestion on a possible use of AZM as an immunomodulator to downregurate TNF-α induction}, pages = {60--62}, title = {ベロ毒素によるTNF -αの産生誘導とカスパーゼ-3の活性化および抗菌剤による抑制効果の検討}, volume = {114}, year = {2000} }
