 note = {Genetic factor and environmental factor cause life-style related disease. It is important for us to detect the high risk women for osteoporosis. Although pregnancy and lactation cause bone loss and high turnover, they are not risk factors for osteoporosis in human. Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is the first choice of the treatment for postmenopausal osteoporosis, climacteric disturbance and hyperlipidemia. Vitamin D receptor gene polymorphism (Taq) is useful to detect the effect of HRT for osteoporosis. Abdominal fat index is useful to detect high risk of post-operative pulmonary embolism. B 3-adrenergic receptor polymorphism (Trp64Arg) may be one of the thrifty genes. New measures to life-style related disease of high and middle-aged women has started in Obstetrics & Gynecology.},
