 note = {We evaluated a Influenza Virus Type B detection kit (InfluB-AD “Seiken”) by comparing it to virus isolation using 128 throat swab specimens and 52 nasal aspirate specimens from children with influenza-like symptoms. InfluB-AD “Seiken” showed a sensitivity of 42.5% and specificity of 100% in the case of throat swabs, and a sensitivity of 80.0% and specificity of 96.9% in the case of nasal aspirates. As this new test can detect Influenza Virus Type B within three hours and shows high sensitivity, we conclude that it will be useful for diagnostic purpose in clinical laboratories especially with respect to making treatment decisions.},
