In spite of no abnormal examination finding to diagnose many physical diseases, depressive and/or anxiety states cause autonomic nervous dysfunctions and consequently produce various physical symptoms. In some clinical cases, psychotropic drugs have an effect on the symptoms. I described some psychiatric disorders with symptoms which were thought to be caused by autonomic nervous dysfunctions. To give an actual example, those diseases include in depression, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, somatoform disorder, conversion disorder, pain disorder, eating disorders, and drug abuse. The patients with these diseases often show various autonomic dysfunctioning symptoms as follows: palpitation, dyspnea, dizziness, sweating, nausea, appetite loss, insomnia, thirst, chill, hot flashes, constipation, diarrhea, hyperuresis, disturbance of urination. In a case with autonomic dystonia, physicians have to pay attention to the relationships between his/her mental state and the symptoms, and appropriately consult psychiatrists if they are inclined to doubt the existence of some psychiatric disorder.}, pages = {428--432}, title = {5) 自律神経失調症状を示す精神科疾患(シンポジウム 各科における自律神経失調症状を呈する疾患について)(第576回新潟医学会)}, volume = {116}, year = {2002} }
