A Little argument of the sentence ending forms in Japanese which are “desu” and “da”. People believe that “desu” is a polite form of “da” and they are taught in that way in Japanese language classes. In this article, however, I tried to prove that they both belong to a totally different speech mode ;“da” to Monologue mode and “desu” to Dialogue mode, and that the previous explanation about these 2 sentence ending forms is dangerous.
