In childcare facilities (from age 3 to age 6), children's motor abilities (MAs) are often subjectively observed by childcare workers. However, their subjective evaluation (SE) might lack validity. 131 children were used for assessing the difference of the MAs between SE obtained from childcare workers (n = 9) by implementing questionnaires and the objective evaluation (OE) which was assessed by conducting practical performance tests. The result of the questionnaire survey was classified into 4 categories: Most Superior, Superior, Inferior, Most Inferior. Most (N = 34) and Least (N = 11) MAs were extracted for the comparison in SE. On the other hand, for assessing the degree of motor abilities of OE, the children were asked to perform 4 movements: shuttle run, standing long jump, softball throwing, and body supporting duration. As a comprehensive evaluation, the average score of 4 tests was calculated as including a 5^<th> item. The relevant test between SE and OE was analyzed using a χ^2 test which did not reveal statistically significant differences (p = 0.075), except shuttle run which significantly differed from the other items (p < 0.05) by residual analysis. The comparison between identical and not identical numbers (in SE and OE) indicated that “Identical” was significantly lower than “Not identical” (p < 0.01). Also, a multiple comparison test revealed the following: Overestimated was significantly higher than both Equivalent (p < 0.01) and Underestimated evaluations (p < 0.05). Thus, the findings suggest that childcare workers should carefully observe children to judge their motor abilities more objectively for healthy development while cooperating with experts.
