Measurements of the maximum shear stress between snow and ethylene tetrafluoride resin were carried out using a shear test machine in a -20℃ cold room. From our experiments three results were obtained: (1) the maximum shear stress corresponding to frozen force increased slowly with increasing vertical pressure from 0.25 to 3.0 kgf/cm^2; (2) the maximum shear stress increased slightly with increasing freezing time from 1 to 24 hour; and (3) the maximum shear stress were influenced by surface roughness.
