In a wide variety of the benign or malignant brain tumors, cerebello-pontine angle tumors, especially acoustic neurinomas, gliomas arising from the brainstem, the fourth ventricle and the cerebellum, and metastatic tumors of these regions, may present with recurrent vertigo or dizziness. Magnetic resonance imaging is a better diagnostic tool of revealing the precise location of the infratentorial tumors. Mechanism of central positional vertigo is suggested to be due to a lesion of the unilateral inferior cerebellar peduncle including a juxta-restiform body or the inferior cerebellar vermis.
