This research focus is on the grammatical phenomenon “V+kai”, which represents the meaning of “begin” in Mandarin Chinese. We have classified “V” and analyzed the interaction between “V” and “kai”. In many cases, “kai” means not only the beginning of the action, but also the continuity of the action. When “V” shows abstract concepts, “kai” will not only emphasize the continuity of the action but also represent the expansion of activities.
